Igniting Your Creative Energy

With the constantly evolving professional scene, our right brain abilities such as artistry, empathy, inventiveness, and big-picture thinking will be just as important as the left brain’s logical and linear abilities. You need both left and right brain abilities, the logical and creative energy to craft a fulfilling life.

With these steps anyone can tap into the power of creative energy.

1. Break from routine

Nothing can stifle the creative energy in you more than routine and mundane. To let you inner creativity flow you need to break from routine and try out different activities. Go bungee jumping or take up an acting class.

Choose an activity that thrills, inspires, or even scares you. When we take ourselves out of our comfort zone, pushing through our fears, we liberate ourselves, gain new perspectives and expand our creative minds.

2. Morning Pages

Make it a habit to get up every morning and write three pages of longhand writing. Just let your conscious thoughts pour out on the page. Doing us in the morning can let you know what kind of day you are having, plus, getting rid of those angry or petty thoughts can help you calm and center yourself and lead to a better day.

3. An Idea Book

Do you often forget that genius idea that comes to you in the shower or in a dream? Keep a small idea book in your bag and by your bed and list down these random sources of inspiration.

4. Mind Maps

Mind mapping is a creative tool that can help solve problems by visually connecting thoughts, ideas and facts just as the mind works. They can be used for creative-problem solving, decision-making, project planning, brainstorming, and taking notes.

A mind map is a diagram that includes the arranging of words, ideas and activities linked to a central idea. The goal is to organize and classify information visually to quickly identify and understand the structure of a topic and how all the pieces fit together.

5. Create a Vision Board

A vision board is where images and words are displayed that represent who you are or want to be, do or have in your life. Creating a vision board helps identify your intentions, keeps you focused on these intentions and then helps to change them into reality. Vision boards can be created for all purposes such as a particular project or outlining your life’s dreams.

Try some of these and eventually those creative juices will start flowing. How do you spark up your creative energy? Let me know in the comments section.
